A Knight to forget

By Don Gearhart

Florence — Darlington’s visit to the 6th ranked West Florence Knights court was a night to forget.
On Senior Night, the home team jumped out to a 5-point lead. The Falcons fought back to make it 7-3, only to see a 10-point West Florence run that ended the first quarter with the Knights commanding a 17-3 advantage.
The second quarter was all Knights as Deuce Hudson lit up the scoreboard with 11 of his game-high 16 points. Chuck Keith put up 7 of his team-high 13 points for Darlington, but the onslaught from Hudson’s teammates provided West Florence with a 45-16 advantage as the halftime buzzer sounded.
The West Florence spread dropped to 27 points at the end of the third quarter with the home team comfortably in front by a 56-29 margin. At that point, the Knights emptied their bench and the Falcons outscored them 17-14 in the final period. When time had expired, the 70-46 margin of victory for West Florence put a sword through the visiting Falcons.
