Attempt to flee traffic stop causes power outage

This morning, July 18, 2023, at approximately 1:15am, a Darlington County Deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Cashua Ferry Rd. in Darlington, on a vehicle that had been reported stolen earlier in the night. The vehicle refused to stop and a short vehicle pursuit ensued, according to Darlington County Sheriff’s reports. The vehicle did travel into the City of Darlington, up Cashua St. and around Public Square in the wrong direction. The vehicle ran into the power supply at the Darlington County Court House causing a power outage that resulted in the Court House being closed for today. The driver of the vehicle, a 16 year old juvenile, was apprehended and is currently being detained by DJJ. No other information available at this time.
