Back to School Festival/Fun Day held

A Back to School Festival was held from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at the Elks Lodge on Timmonsville Highway in Darlington. Sponsored by Sen. Gerald Malloy, the Democratic Women’s Council, Coroner J. Todd Hardee, Sheriff James Hudson & the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office, Gospel in the Park Series, CareSouth Carolina, Pee Dee Girl Scouts, artist Livingston Thomas, Pee Dee United Elk Lodge 1679 and Excelsior Temple 790 , City Councilmember Elaine Reed of Ward #2, and Darlington County School Boardmember Amanda Thompsen, the event drew a large crowd. Attendees were able to get bookbags, school supplies and enjoy a fish fry, popcorn, pizza, and hotdogs.
