Bates chosen for national combine

Joshua Bates from Darlington High School was selected as a linebacker to attend the Blue-Grey National Super Combine in Dallas, TX June 2nd-3rd, 2018.

As a sophomore Bates led in defensive tackles during the 2016 season with 88 tackles and as a junior with 115 tackles in the 2017 season. Averaging more than 11 tackles per game last year with 48 solo tackles, Bates was honored as the All-Region and Defensive Player of the Year for both 2016 and 2017 seasons.

Near the end of this 2017 school year, Bates found out about the selection to the Blue-Grey National Combine as his regional performance helped him earn a spot.

“It is an honor to participate in this national event,” he said.
If Bates performs well, he will be in position to be selected to play in one of the Blue-Grey National All-American Bowls played at four NFL locations.

Darlington Head Coach Jones said, “Joshua Bates has all the tools coaches hope for in a player. He carries himself as well in the classroom and community as he does on the field. He is not only an outstanding player for us, he has grown into an exceptional young man.”
