Bridge repairs begin in October

The South Carolina Department of Transportation will be performing repairs to the SC-34 Bridge over Swift Creek.

the bridge has areas that require extensive repairs that can only be completed without traffic loads. Due to this requirement, and in order to minimize the rehabilitation duration, cost, and impact to commuters and property owners in the area, the bridge will be closed during repair. All traffic will be detoured along a posted detour route using Pocket Road, South Charleston Road, East McIver Road, and South Main Street. We have included a map of the project, outlining the affected area and the detour route.

The bridge closure and detour is tentatively scheduled to begin on October 9, 2023, and is expected to take at least three months to complete.

Local commuters, farmers, schools and businesses will be impacted by this project. Additional notice will be issued in advance of the closure, by public advisory in the local media or by individual letter.
