Car Show returns to the Sweet Potato Festival
The Sweet Potato Festival is next weekend, October 14th! In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Festival, the Pilot Club of Darlington is thrilled to announce the return of the Car Show to the Festival! Bring your classic, modern, hot rod, modified or race car or truck to the Festival and join the fun.
Dash plaques will be given to the first 100 participants to register. All participants will be into a drawing for several door prizes that are sure to please most car enthusiasts. Prizes include an Adam’s Premium Foam Soap Cannon, a NOCO Boost GB40 Car Battery Jump Start, an 8Volt 1.25 AMP Battery Tender, and other premium cleaning and car care products. There will also be eight fun trophies awarded, including Ladies’ Choice, Kid’s Choice, Veteran’s Choice, Best Classic Vehicle, Best Modern Vehicle, Best in Show, Founder’s Favorite and People’s Choice.
The People Choice award will be decided by the Sweet Potato Festival attendees. Votes will be sold for $1. Attendees can vote on their favorite car as many times as they wish.
The Car Show will take place along Cashua Street, starting near the Square and extending into the public parking lot on Cashua (between Wilson Senior Care and Chianti’s Wings). Participants should enter from Russell Street.
The registration fee is $10. Cars can arrive and register beginning at 9:00am. Judging will begin mid-morning and conclude around noon. Trophies will be awarded starting about 1:00pm. The People’s Choice trophy will be awarded near the end of the Festival. Drawings for door prizes will also begin about 1:00 pm and continue until the end of the Festival.
For this car show, Classic vehicles are defined as manufactured before 1989, and Modern vehicles were manufactured from 1990 until the present.
