Child shot by another child, adult arrested

On Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023, at approximately 5:40pm, officers from the Darlington Police Department were dispatched to Carolina Pointe, Apartment A7, in reference to a juvenile possibly being shot. When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered a minor female victim with a gunshot wound to her shoulder area. The mother of the victim, Patricia Ann Storey (pictured here) 37 years old, was arrested and transported to the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center. The mother was charged with 5 counts of Neglect of a Child or Helpless Person for failure to secure a firearm. The remaining juveniles in the home were taken by the Department of Social Services and then released to a family member. The incident is still under investigation by the Darlington Police Department.
