Coroner identifies remains
Darlington County Coroner J Todd Hardee has identified the skeletal remains found last week as John Lawrence Barfield, 38, of Darlington. Mr. Barfield died on June 7, 2022 and was discovered September 21, 2023 just off of Wine Road in Darlington. The remains were discovered by a land surveyor. A positive identification was achieved from forensic evidence processed by The Darlington County Sheriff’s Office Anthropology Department. The cause and manner of death are undetermined at this time.
