Last Friday, September 1, 2023, the Darlington Falcons embarked on the journey up I-20 to take on the Lugoff-Elgin Demons. The Falcons, currently standing at 1-1, showcased their mettle with a resounding victory against Central and an impressive display of 26 points in their game against Hartsville. Meanwhile, the Demons, at 0-2 for the season, were equally determined to secure their first win against the Falcons. The game unfolded as a thrilling tug of war, with both teams vying for control of the ball and a chance to shine in the win column. Admittedly, the Falcons faced some challenges early and often as the Demon defense applied intense pressure on the quarterback, forcing him into nimble scrambles. Despite these hurdles, the Falcons displayed resilience and a fighting spirit. While the Demon secondary coverage made downfield passes a risky proposition, it also set the stage for an intense battle of wits on the field. The Falcon defense rose to the occasion, delivering standout plays that thwarted the Demon’s passing game and making crucial stops at pivotal moments. In the end, the Demons managed to find the endzone in the third quarter, resulting in a score of 0-7. Looking ahead, the Falcons are gearing up for an exciting matchup against Cheraw High School on Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the Falcon’s Nest.
