Darlington native headed for Harvard

Harvard-bound Darlingtonian Curneisha Williams.

Miss Curneisha N. Willaims, a 2015 honor graduate of Mayo High School for Math, Science, and Technology, and a 2019 honor graduate of Wofford College, will be entering Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education this fall, to begin seeking her Master’s Degree in Education Policy and Analysis.

She is the daughter of Priscilla McDaniel and Curtis Williams and, thus far, is the only student from South Carolina who will be pursuing this particular degree. Her mother raised Curneisha, along with her sister, Shawnta Patterson, but she had the strong support of Curneisha’s father and a host of extended family, friends, and community stakeholders who all made positive contributions in their lives.

Curneisha has a long and accomplished academic history. She is a 2015 graduate of Mayo High School for Math, Science and Technology and was inducted into the Hall of Fame. She is also an Honors Graduate and was a member of the Darlington High School Band.

She went to Wofford College with a full tuition scholarship, studied Business Economics, was an Honor Graduate, Senior Class President and Gilman International Scholar. Miss Williams taught for America Corp Class of 2020, taught advanced mathematics and ACT Prep at Greenville High School in Greenville, MS from 2020-2022. She is now planning to attend Harvard University this fall and, we are all very proud of her many accomplishments.
