On Dec. 3, Annie Mae Daniels, a resident at Medford Place nursing home in Darlington, turned 100 years old. Her family says she has 14 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, 90 great-great grandchildren and 24 great-great-great grandchildren. She was married to the late McKinney Daniels. One of her grandchildren, Sheila Johnson, wrote a poem about Annie Mae that reads in part: “I may walk slow and carry a cane, nevertheless I’m still the same; my body may be fragile, my clothes may look old; look past that, look to my heart and soul.” CONTRIBUTED PHOTO
