The Darlington Falcons defeated Manning 10-0 in a summer league baseball match June 15 in Darlington. The top of the first inning was quiet as pitcher Gage McKenzie didn’t allow the visiting team any runs. The bottom of the first set the stage for the game when the Falcons scored three runs. The second inning, like the first, started slow until the Falcons went to bat. Darlington’s Shannon Sims hit a home run while all the bases were full bringing in four runs all in a single play. The game finally ended after the third inning when the Falcons scored an additional three runs over the visitors bringing the score to 10-0 and ending the game. Darlington Falcons head coach Joseph Kolodziej said, “We played some pretty good ball with strong pitches and defense.” He said his team was “doing what they needed to do.” Darlington pitcher Gage McKenzie pitched all three innings, two walks, six outs, one RBI, and went 1 for 2. The lead scorers for the Falcons were Garrett King with two RBIs and a triple; Chase Watson had a double, two RBIs, and one run; Chuck Keith went 1 for 2, one RBI, and one run; Shannon Simes hit two runs, six RBIs, and two hits; Darrius Douglas went 1 for 2 and hit two runs. Enjoy a night out and show support for your local teams.
