‘Golfing Against Poverty’ is April 11

The “Second Annual Sen. Gerald Malloy Golfing Against Poverty Golf Tournament” on behalf of the Darlington County Community Action Agency is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, at Fox Creek Golf Club, 2433 Tomahawk Road in Lydia.
DCCAA is a public nonprofit 501(c)(3) agency whose mission is to deliver programs and services that relieve or eliminate the causes of poverty in Darlington county. DCCAA’s programs serve low-income people at or below the poverty line. Many clients are senior citizens and disabled persons.
The agency provides many of these individuals with energy assistance (through payment of heating and cooling bills). In the absence of this service from DCCAA, it is likely that many requests for aid would be made directly to local churches and other non-profits, which would hurt operational expenses of these organizations. DCCAA is critical to individuals in need and serves as a resource to the community overall.
The agency asks you to become a “Hole Sponsor” for the event at a donation of $200. If this is not possible, they request that you contribute a minimum of $100. All proceeds will be used to enhance the quality and range of services DCCAA can provide to the low-income citizens of Darlington County. The agency also asks that you enlist a team of golfers from your organization to play in the tournament.
For more information, contact the agency at (843) 332-1135.
