Is this the revival of Falcon football?

On Friday the Darlington High School Falcons competed in the Pee Dee Jamboree of Champions at Dillion Memorial Stadium in Dillion, SC. The Falcons, led by a New Head coach Jamie Johnson, played against the Lake View Gators. After two 12-minute quarters, the Falcons won the game 14-0. The first touchdown came on 3rd down with forty-four seconds left in the 1st quarter with a pass from #11 Jaylen Augustus, sophomore, to #5 James Spann, sophomore. The Falcons would find the endzone again with 3:42 left in the 2nd quarter by James Spann.

The Falcons Defense showed up big against a chain-moving Lakeview offense. The Gators would get to the red zone several times in the twenty-four minutes of play however would not score with big plays from #17, #75, #8, and #1. Coach Johnson telling his guys on a 4th down defensive play on their own 6yd line, “Get on the wall, Give it everything you’ve got”. 

Jamie Johnson is the Falcon’s 3rd Head coach in 5 years. Johnson, previously the head football coach and athletic director at Hannah-Pamplico, was brought in by Darlington County School District in January. In his final season with Hannah-pamplico, the Raiders were 4-7 losing to Estill in the first round of the SCHSL 1A playoffs. 

The Falcons are set to play the Central Eagles on Friday night, August 18th at 7:30 pm in Darlington.
