Lamar’s Lady Silver Foxes defeat Darlington’s Lady Falcons 16-14 in Softball

The Lamar Lady Silver Foxes took a 16 to 14 victory on Wednesday night’s game in Lamar over the visiting lady Falcons.
The Lady Falcons started the game off strong with 4 runs in the first inning and another 3 in the following inning while Lamar struggled to gain a run. The tide of the game changed at the bottom of the third when the lady Silver Foxes finally scored 9 runs on the visiting lady Falcons.
The fourth inning was quiet until Lamar scored another 5 runs in the fifth inning and 2 runs in the sixth. With Lamar in the lead 16 to 7, the lady Falcons had to gain some major ground and at the top of the seventh Darlington scored 7 runs over Lamars 0. However, the lady Falcons were still short by two points, so the lady Silver Foxes took the victory!
The win brings the season record to 7-2 on the year.
Abby Mcmanus gets the win, after coming in for relief, and down 7-0 early in the contest. The Pitching staff gave up 6 hits and had 5 k’s on the night. The Foxes score 16 unanswered runs until the 7th inning. Up by 9 runs, the Foxes had a chance to end the game in the 6th, but stranded the runner at 2nd with 1 out.
Leading the Foxes at the plate was Dakota Melancon, she was 5 for 5 and racked up 7 RBI on the night. Kelly Anderson had 3 hits and Tatum Weaver had 2 on the night.
