Man accused of running over sheriff’s deputy
A man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stealing a Darlington County sheriff’s deputy’s patrol car and running him over with it.
Christopher Markeith Hart, address not given, was taken into custody Saturday in Florence, officials said.
The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, Florence County Sheriff’s Special Response Team and Darlington County Sheriff’s Special Incident Response Team assisted in the arrest, local media reported.
The deputy was investigating a robbery near Rogers Road and Timmonsville Road when the incident took place Friday. Officials said Hart assaulted the officer, then stole his patrol car and ran over him.
The deputy was not seriously injured, officials said, and patrol car was found.
