Man arrested for Attempted Murder (x3), other charges

On September 9, 2023, Deputies responded to a residence on Humphries Drive in the Darlington Area of Darlington County in reference to a Domestic incident. As the first Deputy arrived, he observed a vehicle leaving the residence. The Deputy was told by Dispatch that this was the suspect leaving the scene. The Deputy attempted to execute a lawful traffic stop and the vehicle fled. A pursuit ensued. During the pursuit, the driver of the vehicle appeared to purposely ram a Patrol vehicle as well as attempted to run over multiple Deputies. The individual, Shelby William Barr III, was charged with Domestic Violence 2nd Degree, Attempted Murder (3 Counts), Failure to Stop for a Blue Light, Malicious Damage to property, Assault and Battery 2nd Degree and Commission of a Violent Crime while out on bond.
