Man arrested for Murder, Attempted Murder and Possession of Weapon

During the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 6, 2023, Deputies responded to the 4000 Block of Society Hill Road, in the Society Hill area of Darlington County, in reference to a shooting. There was one victim deceased and another shot in the leg. As a result of the investigation by the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit, Norton Lionell Byrd was arrested and charged with Murder, Attempted Murder, and Possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division assisted in the case.
