Mary Lee Lyles Byrd

DARLINGTON — Mary Lee Lyles Byrd, 90, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Dec. 10, 2020, after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Jay Lyles and Lina Pratt Lyles. Mrs. Byrd was born on May 30, 1930, in Johnsonville. She was married to the love of her life, the late Harry G. Byrd. She had two daughters, Pamela (Gene) Clifton Jr. and Vickie (Eddie) Beck Jr. Mrs. Byrd had three grandchildren, Leslie (Amy) Clifton III, Haven Clifton and Morgan (John) Sullivan. She had two great-grandchildren, Cody Clifton and Carlie Clifton. Her greatest loves were her Lord and she was devoted to her family and church. She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Women. She worked several years at Young’s Pecan. Mary loved gardening and was a beautiful seamstress. Surviving are her sister, Ruth Gardner, and brother, Jennings (Judy) Lyles. Many nieces and nephews and the family would like to remember her special friend, Cora Taylor. Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec., 13, in the Chapel of Kistler Hardee Funeral Home. Burial followed at Darlington Memory Gardens. The family received friends Sunday, Dec. 13, at the funeral home. Mrs. Byrd’s service was live-streamed on the Kistler-Hardee Funeral Home Facebook page. Everyone attending was asked to wear a face mask and to adhere to social distancing.
