Mayo Alumni Association holds Homecoming Celebration

The Mayo High School Alumni Association (MHSAA) will hold their Homecoming Celebration on Saturday and Sunday, 30th and October 1st with a multitude of events scheduled. On Saturday, there will be a parade at 11:00 A.M.  Parade lineup will start at 8:30 A.M. on Russell Street. The Grand Marshal of the parade is Captain Allen Thompson, from Mayo’s Class of 1969. Captain Thompson is the son of the late Allen and Sallie Mae Thompson of Darlington. He is married to the former Norma Ann Withrow of Greensboro, NC and they have four sons: Allen III, Michael, Phillip, and Christopher. He has a very impressive military career and has earned numerous miilitary medals and awards.

In addition to the parade, there will also be an Alumni Tailgate Party from 5:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. Saturday, at Virgil Wells Stadium, 100 Magnolia Street, in Darlington. Admission is $5 per person. DJ Fox, from Mayo’s Class of 1980 will provide music. There will also be line dancing and karaoke. At 10:00 P.M. Saturday, there will be an Official Afterparty at Chianti’s Wings and Things, 124 Cashua Street in Darlington.

On Sunday, October 1st, there will be a Praise and Worship Service, beginning at 10:30 A.M., at the A.W. Stanley Gymnasium, 100 Magnolia Street, in Darlington. The MHS Alumni Praise and Worship Team will participate and the speaker will be Rev. Andrew B. Scott, from Mayo’s Class of 1973.
