Nettles receives NAHA Volunteer Appreciation Award

Mr. Howard Nettles, Director of Community Outreach for Genesis Health Care, has been awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award from the National American Heart Association (NAHA). The NAHA recognizes April 16-23, 2023, as National Volunteer Appreciation Week. The NAHA’s National Volunteer Awards honor the tremendous impact of national volunteers and AHA staff members. Brittany Douglas, the American Heart Association’s Senior Development Director for the Pee Dee Area, presented the award to Nettles on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at the Genesis Healthcare offices, located at 201 Cashua Street in Darlington. Nettles has been a volunteer for many years and has raised a large amount of money for the organization during that time.
Mr. Nettles is a management professional with extensive experience recruiting, hiring, motivating and coaching employees. He is also successful in Marketing, Brand Expansion and Community Outreach within the Health Care field. His chief interest is in serving the medical and health care needs of those in this area. Highly involved in the surrounding communities, he has initiated and cultivated many levels of partnership with community Leaders, business owners, the Health Care community and the citizens of the region. He was awarded the Key to The City of Darlington in 2018 for his involvement in and dedication to the success of the city.
He is a Harvest Hope Advisory Board Member, Chairman of The Darlington County Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Darlington County First Steps Board of Directors and formerly served on the Planning Commission of Darlington in 2018 as well as the Design/Review Board. Elected as a Member At Large to the Darlington City Council in 2021, Howard makes himself available to all residents within the community in order to assist them with their needs.
