OBITUARY
C.D. Strickland
DARLINGTON- Charles Duane “C.D.” Strickland, age 81, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2022 at his home, surrounded by all of his family. A funeral service was held at 3:00 Sunday , March 13, at Darlington Presbyterian Church, with burial following in Grove Hill Cemetery. The family received friends from 2:00 until 3:00 in the church sanctuary.
Born on July 20, 1940 in Horry County, he was the son of the late Everett Fulton Strickland and the late Addie Geneva Shelley Strickland. He was a well-respected business man who worked for Liberty Life Insurance Agency for many years as an auditor and also owned and operated Strickland’s ABC Store in Darlington. Mr. Strickland was a Mason and a Shriner, just recently receiving his certificate for 50 years of membership.
He is survived by his wife, Dora Godbold Strickland, his children: Shelley (Leslie) McLellan of Hamer, Shannon (Vonda) Strickland of Darlington, Jody (Mia) Odom of N. Myrtle Beach, Jennie Stanley of Lamar and Julie(Jerry) Hamberis of Florence, grandchildren: Brooke (Robert)Lee, Justin (Kylie) McLellan, Britney McLellan, Matthew (LeAnn) McLellan, Courtney Robinson, Nikki Strickland, Brooke Robinson, Austin Strickland, Will (Miranda) Segars, Bryce Stanley, Megan McKissick, Jackson McKissick and T.J. Hamberis, 17 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Janice (Pete) Beckley of Aurora, Co, Priscilla McMillan of Mullins, many nieces, nephews and cousins, and his feline friend, “Sir King Fluffy”.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Garland Strickland and Terry Strickland.
The family of Mr. Strickland would like to thank Agape Care of SC for their love and wonderful care during these past few months.
