Raceway hosts Open House

Darlington Raceway hosted an Open House for business, civic leaders and citizens at the Joe Weatherly Stock Car Museum on raceway grounds last Tuesday afternoon, March 28, 2023. Raceway President Kerry Tharp addresses the crowd. “A few years ago,” Tharp said, “we got our 2nd race back. We need the help of the community to keep that 2nd race.” Tharp told the audience that the 2 races bring in approximately $112 million, making a huge impact on the local economy. “Around $90 million of that stays in this area,” he said. Tharp also reminded everyone that the Raceway Gift Shop sells numerous gifts and souvenirs that are specific to the Darlington location. PHOTO BY STEPHAN DREW
