Shooting victim named
The Darlington County Coroner’s Office has named the victim of a tragic shooting that occurred in the Society Hill area. The victim, identified by Coroner J. Todd Hardee as 28-year-old Jamal Easterling from Bennettsville, lost his life in the incident that took place around 4 a.m. on Sunday, August 6, 2023. According to Coroner Todd Hardee, Easterling succumbed to the shooting incident. The location of the incident was specified as Society Hill Road by deputies, who are actively involved in the case’s investigation. The incident has also prompted the involvement of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), which is collaborating to uncover the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
