Trinity Baseball wins big

By Don Gearhart

Camden Military Academy invaded the ballfield of the Trinity Collegiate Titans and proceeded to take a 1-0 lead on consecutive hits to open with a 1-0 lead going into the bottom of the first inning.  The Titans did not seem worried as they came up to bat in their half.  After an out, Matt Buchanan got hit by a pitch.  Tucker Galloway followed with a base hit up the middle.  Kam Rheuark’s swinging bunt brough home one run and  Gates Chapman brought home two more with a base hit up the middle.  Nickalos Romanoli doubled home a run with Chapman scoring. The Titans were up 4-1 after an inning of play.

Camden was only able to get two more baserunners aboard the remainder of the game.  Meanwhile, Trinity built a 9-1 lead with a five-run second inning.  Tanner Buck and Mac Faile led off with consecutive hits with Faile collecting an RBI.  Galloway walked before Rheuark drove in a run with a fielder’s choice.  Chapman delivered again with a two-RBI single then eventually scored on a throwing error.

Trinity would tack on four more runs in the third inning.  Tanner Hall tripled to start things off.  After Buck walked, Faile drove home Hall with a single.  Galloway drove home another run with a sacrifice fly.  Another run scored when Rheuark’s fly to right was dropped allowing him to go all the way to third where he eventually scored on a wild pitch.  Trinity’s lead was now 13-1 after three innings of play.

Neither team scored in the fourth inning setting the stage for a 10-run rule victory for Trinity if they could keep Camden Military Academy from scoring three or more runs.  Taking no chances, the Titans elected to bring in Hall to close the door and the ace of their staff did not disappoint as he struck out the side to end the game.

The Titans got two hits each from Faile, Chapman, Romanoli, and Hall.  Lucas Morgan got the win, pitching four innings of one run, three hts, with five strikeouts and one hit-by-pitch.  Hall got the save by striking out the three batters he faced.
