Trinity Collegiate basketball excels academically

Trinity Collegiate School has a tradition of academic excellence with a 100 percent acceptance rate to a four-year college or university, offering 21 advanced placement courses and eight pre-advancement placement courses. The basketball program takes the commitment to academics and mission seriously. In the first semester, the men’s varsity team carried a team GPA of 4.4. As a team, they are enrolled in 13 advanced placement courses and 24 honors courses. The women’s varsity team carried a team GPA of 4.7 and are enrolled in 16 advanced placement courses and 17 honors courses. “Academics are a core part of our program,” Coach Mike Teasley, director of basketball and head men’s basketball coach, remarked. “These students understand success in the classroom will open doors for them and help them get recruited to play at the next level. We want to send athletes that are prepared to succeed in college academically and athletically and we have structured our program accordingly.” A major part of this success is Trinity Collegiate’s Academic Success Center, which offers tutoring, study skills, and academic support for all Trinity Collegiate students. “This is the Academic Success Center’s fourth year and we have really seen the results for our students,” said Kate Currie, director of the Academic Success Center. “Our students have the opportunity to work with our faculty to get the support they need to be highly successful. Coach Teasley and the whole basketball program has really leaned into the Academic Success Center and created a culture where these students are highly motivated to achieve in the classroom.” The Academic Success Center is open to every student at Trinity Collegiate School and works hand in hand with the College Counseling Office faculty and coaches to support the academic goals of every student.
