Trinity defeats Dillon in JV football

The Trinity Titans’ JV football team picked up a come-from-behind 30-26 win over the Dillon Christian School Warriors JV team on Thursday, September 10, in Dillon.
Dillon Christian School scored in the first quarter on a 70-yard pass play and converted the 2-point conversion to take an 8-0 lead. However, the lead was to be short-lived as the Titans responded with a score and a 2-point conversion play to knot the score at 8 each with 3:17 remaining in the first quarter.
Trinity’s Tre Leonard scored 6 points, and James Herbert snagged a pass in the end zone for the 2-point conversion to take a 16-8 lead over Dillon Christian School.
After the first quarter Trinity was up 16-8.
Trinity’s Tre Leonard again ran into the end zone for 6 points and also completed the 2-point conversion with 2:59 remaining in the first half to give Trinity a 24-8 lead.
The Warriors fumbled, and Trinity took over as time was running out in the first half. However, Dillon intercepted a pass with 52 seconds remaining in the first half.
Dillon’s Jackson Outlar was on the receiving end of a pass that resulted in 6 points as time expired in the first half. The 2-point conversion attempt failed, and Dillon trailed 24-14 at halftime.

The two teams were unable to get the offense going in the third quarter. However with only 10 seconds remaining in the quarter, Dillon’s Avery Sherman threw a completion to Ford Richardson who scored to close the gap to only 4 points, 24-20 in favor of the Trinity Titans. The 2-point conversion failed.
The Warriors took a 26-24 lead on Walker Chavis’ touchdown with only 5:26 remaining in the game. The 2-point conversion failed.
With 2:05 remaining in the game, Trinity’s Tre Leonard scored to put the Titans up by 4 points, 30-26. The 2-point conversion failed.
The Warriors took the kick-off and began to head to the end zone. Dillon rapidly advanced the football but time was not on their side as Dillon’s Ford Richardson caught a pass on the 9-yard line of the Titans as time expired.
