Wingate University defeats Coker University in volleyball

WINGATE, N.C. — Coker University volleyball fell at Wingate March 16 in South Atlantic Conference action by a score of 3-0. Wingate took the opening set by a score of 25-13, before winning the second set 25-9. The Bulldogs would close the match out with a 25-19 victory in set three. Emily Everton paced Coker with six kills on the night, while Chelsey Blume, Kay Hill and Alyssa Lake each had three kills in the match. Ashley Carson and Ann Frisk each tallied one kill in the match. Carson dished out a team-high 14 assists on the night, while Makayla Harris had two and Olivia Cerick had one. Everton had Coker’s lone solo block, while Blume and Lake each had a team-high four block assists. Frisk had three block assists on the night, while Everton had two and Carson recorded one. Carson led the Cobras with seven digs on the night, while Hill and Cerick each had five. Harris posted four digs, while Rami Mullen registered three and Everton and Frisk each had one.
