An incident unfolded in the Pee Dee region on Saturday, leading to the arrest of Janice Anderson after she allegedly attempted to run over law enforcement officers during a high-speed chase, the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The pursuit began when officers from the Hartsville Police Department responded to reports of a stolen vehicle in the vicinity of Ousleydale Road in Hartsville. Before officers could arrive at the scene, they attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Anderson, who chose to flee instead.

A chase ensued, with the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office joining the pursuit and eventually apprehending Anderson on North 5th Street. During the chase, Anderson is alleged to have tried to run over two officers with her vehicle.

Following her arrest, Anderson was transported to a hospital for evaluation before being booked into the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center. Jail records indicate that she is currently facing a charge of attempted murder, but authorities have suggested that additional charges may be pending in this ongoing investigation.
